This work
A iia involved the installation of two depth-specific groundwater monitoring wells in the
monitoring well W-2 area. Groundwater samples were collected from these two depth- F :
a Pa specific monitoring wells and from monitoring well W-2 and analyzed for benzene, toluene,
I and xylene (BTX) by EPA Method 602.
E Field.Methods. Two depth-specific monitoring wells (W-2A and W-2B) were installed,
developed, and sampled during fate June 1988. Borehole logs are in Exhibit E. Field
methods used by BC in the June 1988 w.:k are the same methods discussed in the work
plan (Exhibit A). Actual well construction differs slightly from that discussed in the work
t i plan. (1) Well W-2A is a 4-inch-diameter well screened above and below the water table
(between 50 and 65 feet), rather than a 2-inch-diameter well screened between 60 and 65
feet. The well was constructed accordingly to facilitate free product removal. Due to
i some caving of the borehole following auger removal, well W-2B has a natural sand pack E
above the screened interval between the designed sand pack and the bentonite seal. The
interval between 74 and 88 feet below ground surface is therefore accessible to W-213.
This is a larger interval than planned. Hydrocarbon odors were noted in drill cuttings
k from approximately the 10- to 35-foot depth interval in borehole W-2A and in the 15- to
x 35-foot depth interval in borehole W-213.
