4 _ _
"
»-, Mr. H. C. Winsor
I September 16. 1987
Page 3
1
developed by Armour Petroleum Service and Equipment Corporation
-^ (Armour Petroleum) of Vacaville, California, on July 22, 1987, by
pumping.
On July 15, 1987, while drilling Borehole B-1, the regular and super
unleaded product lines and the super unleaded vapor line were
ruptured. All gasoline flow to the pumps was immediately shut down,
and rags were stuffed into the product lines to soak up the gaso-
line. The City Fire Department and ARCO maintenance crews were
notified.
i ARCO data indicate that the estimate of gasoline lost was between 15
and 33 gallons. of regular gasoline and between 0 and 35 gallons of
super unleaded gasoline. An Underground Storage Tank Release
(Leak)/Contamination Site Report was filed with the County. The
r J ruptured lines were replaced on July 15, 1987, by W. F. Lewis
Construction Company (Lewis Construction) . On July 16, 1987, all
lines passed a pressure test conducted by Lewis Construction. The
t location of Borehole B-1 was shifted slightly southwest.
J - # Site Geology and Groundwater Occurrence and Flow
` Site geology for the area determined from the borehole logs is shown
s on Figure 2. The sediments appear to be predominantly silt from the'
ground surface down to approximately 25 feet below ground surface
under the ARCO station, and down to approximately 45 feet below
ground surface under American Savings. Beneath the silt layer, the
sediments are predominantly sand. Groundwater occurs at approxi-
mately 53 feet below ground surface in the predominantly sand layer.
Groundwater elevations obtained by BC on July 23, 1987, are
summarized in Table 1
Table 1.
