e + '� �„ *, �.,:C° `fry. � ° y v.�- ¢ � � `"'�eA*�•e _ 7 r-1 Personnel Protection The personnel protection plan for this project is designed to prevent sampling personnel from expo.vre to petroleum hydrocarbons which might be encountered on site. The following clothing shall be worn by all on-site personnel: 1. Hard hat with optional face shield. 2. Steel-toed boots. 3. Gloves. To prevent direct skin contact, the following protective clothing will be available for. personnel working on site and shall be worn if deemed necessary by the on-site hydrogeologist: 1. Breathable tyvek coveralls or cotton coveralls. 2. Disposable vinyl gloves,changed between samples. _ 3. Goggles to guard against spla,h unless face shield is used. No eating, drinking, or smoking will be allowed within 50 feet of the drilling and f sampling operations. No contact lenses will be wom by sampling personnel. 1 First Aid _ On-site personnel will be informed of the symptoms related to exposure to significant j concentrations of gasoline. Immediate symptoms include irritation of the respiratory passages; headache; dizziness; lightheadedness; uncoordination; nausea, vomiting; and eventually unconsciousness. In the event that any on-site personnel experience such symptoms,operations will be stopped and.medical attention will be obtained as required. ' First aid for chemical exposure is as follows: 7 a Direct Contact Bldu--Remove contaminated clothing immediately. Flush affected area immediately r with ample amounts of water,then wash with soap and water. Eyes--Hold the eyelid open and flush with copious amounts of water. t Inhalation 77 Remove the victim to fresh air immediately;give artificial respiration as necessary. I In case of a major exposure of any kind, obtain medical help immediately. BC will identify local medical facilities before work begins, and a list of emergency numbers will be ava::able during operations.
