M. <br /> r <br /> t• ' <br /> i <br /> a <br /> E <br /> CHAPTER I <br /> 3 <br /> INTRODUCTION <br /> Yyl <br /> On December 23, 1986, an in-tank leak detector at ARCO Products Company (ARCO) <br /> F, Service Station 434, located at 501 KettIeman bane in Lodi, California,indicated a product Ioss. <br /> Subsequent investigation by ARCO identified a loss that resulted from a leak in the product line <br /> leading from the unleaded gasoline underground storage tank to the dispenser. The leaking pipe <br /> r a has been replaced. ARCO inventory control data for November and December 1986 show a total <br /> i ? inventory loss of approximately 786 gallons of unleaded gasoline. <br /> n This report discusses ARCO's investigation of the site to date with a detailed discussion of <br /> :., the May 1990 field activities. A site location map is provided on Figure I-1. <br /> Background <br /> There are a total of 14 groundwater monitoring wells on and off site. Locations of all welts <br /> are shown on Figure 1-2. Wells NV-1, W-2, and W-3 were installed in April 1987. Results of <br /> the April 1987 work were presented in Brown and Caldwell's (BC's) May 21, 1987, Problem <br /> 1 Assessment Report. Wells W-4,W-5, and W-6 were installed in July 1987. Results of the July <br /> 1987 work were presented in BC's September 16, 1987,Addendum to the Problem Assessment <br /> ' Report. Wells W-7 and W-8 were installed in November 1987. Results of the November 1987 <br /> work were presented in BC's February 8, 1988, Second Addendum to the Problem Assessment <br /> Report. Wells W-2A and W-213 were installed in Jane 1988: Results of the June 1988 work <br /> -% were presented in the November 8, 1988, Progress Report. <br /> From April 23,,1990 through May 10, 1990,monitoring wells W-IA, .W-9,W40, W-11, <br /> and W-12 were installed, groundwater cxtracdon wall E-1 was installed, eight vapor extraction <br /> _ wells were installed,and monitoring well W-1.was abandoned. The groundwater extraction well <br /> �i and the vapor extraction wells were plumbed for future remediation use. This report presents the <br /> methods used in, and the results of the site investigation.
