C d
EXHIBIT A
DESCRIPTION OF FIELD METHODS
Measurements of the static water level were taken in each well prior to commencing
development, and a check for floating product was also made at that time.
Prior to sample collection, groundwater was purged from each monitoring well by Brown and
Caldwell Consultants personnel using the Well Wizards. The purged groundwater was stored in
covered 55-gallon drums on site. While purging groundwater from each well, the pH. specific
conductance, and volume of water purged was monitored. Approximately three well volumes
of groundwater were evacuated from all sampled monitoring wells.
The wells were sampled using disposal polyvinyl chloride bailers equipped with bottom-emptying
valves. The sample was drained directly from the bottom valve into four 40-milliliter glass
bottles with teflon-lined septums. The samples were stored on ice from the time of collection
through delivery to Brown and Caldwell's state-certified laboratory.
All groundwater produced during the sampling activity was removed from the site by Armour
Petroleum Services.
