EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
ARCO Products Company is remediating gasoline contaminated soil and proposes to
remediate gasoline contaminated groundwater at ARCO station 434, located at 501 Kettleman
Lane in Lodi,California. Currently gasoline vapors are extracted from 8 on-site vapor extraction
wells and treated by catalytic oxidation. Air discharges are regulated under a permit issued by
San Joaquin County Valley Unified Air Pollution Control District.
ARCO proposes to extract groundwater from one or more groundwater wells and treat this
water by granulated activated carbon. Implementation of groundwater extraction and treatment
is dependent on obtaining permits and authority to discharge to either a sanitary sewer or an
industrial sewer.
The groundwater rnonitoiing wells at the site are sampled on a quarterly basis and analyzed
for TPH and BETX. The concentrations of the constituents are reporters in the quarterly reports
which are submitted to the involved agencies. The true effectiveness of the groundwater
— extraction system will be measured by the reduction in the constituents in the monitoring wells.
w INTRODUCTION
This report is the Final Groundwater Remediation Plan(Plan)for ARCO Products Company
(ARCO)Station 434 (site) located at 501 Kettleman Lane in Lodi, California. Figure 1 shows
the Iocation of the site. The Plan is organized so that it basically follows the outline presented
- in the final Remediation Plan section of Appendix A of the Tri-Regional Board Staff
Recommendations for Preliminary Evaluation and Investigation of Underground Tank Sites. The
preparation of the PIan was required by the San Joaquin County Public Health Services,
Environmental Health Division.
Presently there are 14 groundwater monitoring wells, one groundwater extraction well, and
— eight vapor extraction wells located at the site. A soil vapor extraction and treatment system has
been operating since June 1991. Figure 2 shows the location of the monitoring welds, vapor
wells, and the extraction well.
SOIL :REMEDIATION
This section describes the soil remediation system and how it works.
IM
am
