1 <br /> April 15, 1993 Working To Restore Nature <br /> ARCO Service Station No 2076, Lodi, California <br /> Excavation of New Tank Cavity <br /> r <br /> On November 21 and 22, 1991, RESNA observed the excavation of the new tank cavity to <br /> approximately 12 feet below grade (RESNA, Removal of Underground Storage Tank <br /> Report, June 26, 1992) Soil samples were collected from the base of the excavation and <br /> 1 from the eastern and western limits of the new tank cavity The limits of the new tank <br /> cavity and sample locations are shown on Plate 2 Results of chemical analyses of soil <br /> samples collected from the new tank cavity are presented to Table 4 <br /> Tank Installation and Backfilling <br /> In November 1991, ARCO's contractors installed new tanks in the tank cavity east of the <br /> station building During the week of December 16, 1991, the contractor installed new <br /> product lines and backfilled the former tank cavity with the stockpiled soil collected from <br /> the former tank and pipe-line excavations RESNA's engineers installed 4-inch-diameter <br /> polyvinyl chloride piping next to the new product lines for use in a future vapor-extraction <br /> system Soil with residual hydrocarbons was left in place under the former product lines <br /> These tasks were approved by the SJCPHS-EHD with the understanding that future <br /> environmental work conducted at the site would include delineating residual hydrocarbons <br /> in soil and installing a vapor-extraction system <br /> SCOPE OF CURRENT INVESTIGATION <br /> The current investigation was conducted in accordance with RESNA Work Plan No 30008- <br /> 5, September 9, 1992 Our field procedures are described in Appendix B Health and <br /> Safety was conducted in accordance to our Site Safety Plan (RESNA, October 6, 1992) <br /> 3M8-s 5 <br />
