O. Box 2009
Stockton, CA 95201.. _
Re: ARCO Service Station No. 2075, 800 E. Kettleman Lane, Lodi, California
I
Dear Ms. Meays:
At the request of ARCO Products Company (ARCO), .EMCON is submitting this letter in
response to San Joaquin Public Health Department's letter dated November 18, 1994, regarding
an unauthorized release at the subject site. The letter stated that a drive off spill had occurred
and that the disposition of the absorbent and the contaminated soil from the clean-up should be
discussed in a separate letter.
Based on data provided by ARCO, during a routine filter replacement at the above-referenced
site, the union at dispenser #3 was observed to be moist with gasoline. On August 2, 1994 a
technician from Elite N Contractors of Stockton visited the site. He used one absorbent pad to
wipe the piping into and out of the union in order to observe the location where the gasoline
moisture was originating. The contractor then tightened the union and tested it for further
leakage. No subsequent leakage was observed. No soil was excavated from beneath the
dispenser nor was any gasoline observed under the dispenser. Elite N also indicated that the
absorbent pad used is similar to a sponge and is air dried so that it can be reused. Therefore,
there"was no disposal of waste materiais for this rep-air-'project.-
Sincerely,
epair'project.Sincerely,
EMCON
Claudio Avila 4iahnsoLn
Project Geologist ject Supervisor
cc: Kyle Christie, ARCO Products Company f
k
