Kettleman Lane (Station #6015) SITE CODE: 1348
Lodi, CA
On March 9, 1994 Unocal Corporation and Kaprealian En ' eering Incorporated (KEI) presented a site
investigation summary to the Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board and the San Joaquin
County Public Health Services Environmental Health Division (PHS/EHD) Technical Review Committee
(TRC). Both soil and groundwater at the site have been impacted by an unauthorized release of petroleum
hydrocarbons (gasoline).
A Vadose Zone Contaminated Fate and Transport Model ESOIL) was performed by KEI using data
collected from site investigation activities. A residual Benzene concentration of 0.57 ppm discovered in an
overexcavation at 26 feet and water level of 72 feet were three of the inputs used to determine contaminant
migration.
In order to make the model accurate, the TRC recom nds the Benzene concentration, depth of
contamination, and depth to water inputs be revised: the Be=ene concentration (19 ppm) found in MWI,
its depth (32.5 feet), and highest groundwater in the past ten ears (50 feet in 1986) should be utilized.
When these inputs changes are made and results are made ava lable to the TRC for review, your request for
soil closure will be reconsidered.
If you have any further questions regarding this matter, contact Harlin Knoll at (209) 468-3442-
Donna Heran,REHS, Director
Environmental Health Division
Harlin Knoll, Senior REHS Diane M.
