Box 5155
San Ramon, California 94583
Attention: Mr. Rick Sisk
RE: Work Plan/Proposal
Unocal Service Station #6015
601 E. Kettleman Lane
Lodi, California
INTRODUCTION
The subject site is tentatively scheduled for divestment, and
Unocal has therefore instructed Kaprealian Engineering, Inc. (KEI)
to expedite the environmental characterization of the site. Thus,
this work plan has been prepared in order to determine the extent
of any contamination that may be present at the site.
Three monitoring wells have recently been installed and sampled at
the site. Documentation of well installation protocol, sample
collection techniques, and analytical results are presented in
KEI 's report (KEI-P91-0202 .R5) dated October 16, 1991. All
previous environmental background information at the subject site
is also included within the above discussed KEI report.
PROPOSED FIELD WORK
PHASE II - DEFINING THE EXTENT OF SUBSURFACE CONTAMINATION
1. KEI proposes to install six additional two-inch diameter
monitoring wells and two exploratory borings (designated as
MW4 through MW9, and EB1 and EB2 , respectively, on the
attached Site Plan) at the subject site. The wells will be
installed by the use of hollow-stem auger equipment. However,
the two exploratory borings are proposed within the existing
service station building adjacent to the two hoists. Because
of height limitations inside the structure, a portable,
pneumatically-driven soil sampling apparatus is proposed.
Permits will be obtained from the San Joaquin County Public
Health Services prior to beginning work.
• The wells will be drilled approximately 10 feet into the
saturated zone of the first encountered ground water, unless
