Box 5155
San Ramon, California 94583
Attention: Mr. David DeWitt
RE: Site Investigation Summary
Unocal Service Station x`6015
601 E. Kettleman Lane
Lodi California
Dear Mr. DeWitt:
This letter presents a summary of the subsurface investiga-
tion/remediation that has been conducted at the subject site to
date.
SUMMARY OF SOIL SAMPLES
• In February and March of 1991, Kaprealian Engineering, Inc. (KEI)
collected soil samples associated with the removal of underground
fuel storage tanks, a waste oil tank, and product piping at the
subject site. The analytical results of the final soil samples
collected from beneath the underground fuel storage tanks, waste
oil tank, and product piping indicated non-detectable concentra-
tions of total petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH) as gasoline, except for
6. 1 ppm detected in one sample.
Two exploratory borings and nine ground water monitoring wells have
been installed at the site. A cumulative total of 143 soil samples
were collected at various depths and analyzed during the site
characterization phase. Of these samples, 139 indicated non-
detectable concentrations of TPH as gasoline, and 137 indicated
non-detectable concentrations of benzene. The four samples that
indicated detectable levels of TPH as gasoline had levels ranging
from 1. 9 ppm to 5. 7 ppm, while the six samples that showed
detectable levels of benzene had levels ranging from 0. 0094 ppm to
1. 9 PPm• The analytical results of all of the soil samples
collected at the site to date are summarized in KEI ' s report (KEI-
P91-0202 . QR1) dated May 4, 1992 .
SUMMARY OF GROUND WATER SAMPLES
Neither free product nor sheen has ever been detected in any of the
wells at the subject site since the inception of ground water
monitoring and sampling on January 3 , 1992 (over one hydrologic
2401 Sonwell Drive Suite 400
Concord Ulfor=94520
Tel 510 602 5100 Fxx 510 687 0602
