Box 5155
San Ramon, California 94583
Attention: Mr. David DeWitt
RE: SESOIL Vadose Zone Computer Modeling Report
Unocal Service Station #6015
601 East Kettleman Lane
Lodi . California
Dear Mr. DeWitt:
This report presents the results of the SESOIL Vadose Zone
Contaminant Fate and Transport Model that was performed using data
collected from previous site investigation activities at the
subject site.
The subject site contains a Unocal service station facility. Three
underground fuel storage tanks, one waste oil tank, and the product
piping were removed from the site in February of 1991 during tank
replacement activities . The fuel tank pit was subsequently
overexcavated in order to remove contaminated soil . Nine monitor-
ing wells and two exploratory borings have been installed at the
site. A ground water monitoring and sampling program was initiated
in September of 1991.
A site description, detailed background information including a
summary of all of the soil and ground water subsurface investiga-
tion/remediation work conducted to date, site hydrogeologic
conditions, and tables that summarize all of the soil and ground
water sample analytical results are presented in Kaprealzan
Engineering Ines. (KEI) quarterly report (KEI-P91-0202 . QR1) dated
May 4 , 1992 .
SESOIL - BACKGROUND INFORMATION
SESOIL is a seasonal soil compartment model that estimates the rate
of vertical chemical transport and transformation in the vadose
zone. SESOIL is capable of analyzing chemical transport in terms
of mass and concentration distributions among the soil, water, and
air phases in the unsaturated soil zone. The soil column is
. defined as a compartment which extends from the soil surface
through the unsaturated zone to the ground water table. By
analyzing this soil column, a determination can be made as to
Z401 Stanwell Drive Suite 400
Concord Caltfornia 94520
Tel 510 602 5100 Fax 510 687 0602
