INTRODUCTION AND SCOPE OF WORK <br /> At the request of Mr Pete Graffigna,Advanced GeoEnvirorimental, Inc (AGE) has prepared this <br /> Preliminary Investigation and Evaluation Report (PIER) for Flame Liquor located at 1301 West <br /> Kettleman Lane,Lodi, California(site) The location of the site is illustrated in Figure 1, a site plan <br /> Iis shown in Figure 2 <br /> The scope of work was performed in two phases Phase I included the advancement of five soil probe <br /> I borings in the area of the former and newly upgraded underground storage tanks(USTs)to evaluate <br /> the lateral and vertical extent of petroleum hydrocarbons in soil and ground water Phase H was <br /> initiated after petroleum hydrocarbon-impacted soil and ground water were confirmed by laboratory <br /> analysis of samples collected during the first phase Four soil borings were advanced and completed <br /> as ground water monitoring wells This report is prepared in accordance with guidelines established <br /> by the California Regional Water Quality Control Board-Central Valley Region(CRWQCB-CVR) <br /> Ifor investigation of underground storage tank(UST) sites <br /> i2.0. BACKGROUND <br />' The property is presently occupied by Flame Liquor,which consists of one story mini-mart structure, <br /> gasoline fueling facility and car wash The gasoline fueling facility consists of three USTs, four <br /> dispenser islands and a canopy The car wash is located along the western margin of the site <br /> On 09 March 1998,AGE advanced four soil probe borings to investigate the soil in close proximity <br /> to the USTs for petroleum hydrocarbon-impact to soil The fuel oxygenate methyl tertiary-butyl ether <br /> (MTBE) was detected in soil sample BI-20' by EPA Method 8020 at a concentration of 0 25 <br /> milligrams per kilogram ( mglkg) Sample B1-20' had been collected from the northeast end of <br /> UST#3 at a depth of 20 feet below surface grade (bsg) A summary of soil samples analyzed are <br /> presented in Table 1 Boring locations are shown on Figure 2 <br /> On 30 June 1998 the USTs were removed from the site Grayland Environmental of Davis, <br />' California, collected soil samples from the bottom of the UST excavation, former dispenser island <br /> area,and soil stockpiles Fuel oxygenates MTBE and tertiary-butyl alcohol (TBA)were detected in <br /> soil sample S-17-T2s by EPA Method 8260M at a maximum concentration of 9,800 micrograms per <br />' kilogram (µg/kg) and 31,000 gg/kg, respectively TBA was detected in soil sample S-4-FDI, <br /> collected from the dispenser island area,at a concentration of 75 gg/kg Total xylenes were detected <br /> m sample S-5-FD2 by EPA Method 8020 at a concentration of 0 012 mg/kg MTBE was not detected <br /> rin dispenser island samples at concentrations above the laboratory reported limit <br /> IAdvanced GeoEnvironmentai,Inc <br /> 1 <br />
