23 July 2004 <br /> AGE-NC Project No 99-0624 <br /> Page 5 of 8 <br /> 2 3 WELL MONITORING AND PURGE PROCEDURES <br /> On 26 April 2004,as directed by Mr Harlin Knoll of EHD,the depth to ground water in monitoring <br /> well MW5 was measured from the top of the well casing to the nearest 0 01-foot utilizing a Solinst <br /> water level meter After the water level was measured,approximately 5 gallons ofwater(a minimum <br /> of 3 casing-water volumes per well)were purged from the monitoring well using a Waterra hydrolift <br /> pump and dedicated tubing Ground water temperature, pH and conductivity were measured at <br /> regular intervals during purging using an Oakton water analyzer <br /> On 13 May 2004, the depth to ground water In the seven monitoring wells was measured from the <br /> top of each well casing to the nearest 0 01-foot utilizing a Solinst water level meter After water <br /> levels were measured,approximately 5 to 6 gallons of water(a minimum of 3 casing-water volumes <br />' per well)were purged from monitoring wells MW 1 through MW6 and approximately 18 0 gallons <br /> of water were removed from well MW7 using a Waterra hydrolift pump and dedicated tubing <br /> Ground water temperature,pH and conductivity were measured at regular Intervals during purging <br />' using an Oakton water analyzer <br />' Purged water was stored in properly labeled DOT approved 55-gallon drums and stored on-site <br /> The ground water elevation for each well was calculated by subtracting the 13 May 2004 measured <br />' depth to ground water from the surveyed casing elevation (Table 1) Field sheets and data are <br /> Included in Appendix C <br />' 2 4 COLLECTION AND ANALYSIS OF GROUND WATER SAMPLES <br />' Water samples were collected from each purged well using a Waterra hydrolift pump and dedicated <br /> tubing after allowing the wells to achieve a minimum 80%recovery of the pre-purge water volume <br /> Each water sample was transferred into three 40-m1 volatile organic analysis(VOA)vials containing <br />' 0 5-ml 18%hydrochloric acid as a sample preservative After collection, the samples were properly <br /> labeled,placed in a chilled container and transported under chain-of-custody to CTEL The samples <br /> were analyzed for <br />' TPH-g in accordance with EPA Methods 5030/8015M, <br />' BTEX in accordance with EPA method 8260B, and <br /> • Fuel additives DIPE, ETBE, MTBE, TAME, TBA, 1,2-DCA and EDB in accordance with <br />' EPA Method 8260B <br />' Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc <br /> 1 l <br />
