i
11 September 2003
• AGE-NC Project No 99-0624
• Utilizing EPA Method 8260B, MTBE was detected from wells MW-1, MW-2 and MW-3
at concentrations as high as 19,000,ug/l(MW-2) The MTBE concentrations were above the
Primary MCL of 13 gg/l in drinking water
• The elevated concentrations of petroleum hydrocarbons detected in samples collected from
I well MW-2 indicate that this well is within or near the dissolved petroleum hydrocarbon
"core area" of the on-site plume
• MTBE concentrations increased between the March 2003 and the June 2003 ground water
monitoring events, the significant MTBE-impacted ground water, combined with the
laboratory notations that all chromatograms from MW-2 ground water samples have
contained significant, unmodified or weakly modified gasoline, could be interpreted as
indications of a relatively new release (Figure 4)
1 '
5.0. RECOMMENDATIONS
Based upon data collected during June 2003, AGE recommends
p g
• Continued quarterly ground water monitoring and sampling, the next quarterly monitoring
event is scheduled for September 2003
• Performance of a receptor survey to locate potential receptors within 2,000 feet of the site
• Preparation of a feasibility studies report to evaluate soil and ground water remediation
alternatives at the site
I
6.0. LIMITATIONS
Our professional services were performed using that degree of care and skill ordinarily exercised by
environmental consultants practicing'in this or similar localities The findings were based upon
analytical results provided by an independent laboratory Evaluations of the hydrogeologic
conditions at the site for the purpose of this investigation are made from a limited number of
available data points (i a ground water samples) and subsurface conditions may vary away from
these data points No other warranty, expressed,or implied, is made as to the professional
interpretations, opimons and recommendations contained in this report
i
Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc
l
I
