Q
Limited Phase 11 Subsurface Investigation Report
Property Lease Port of Stockton
Stockton,California a ntea g ro u p
Antea Group Project No. UPR8298B
an accompanying chain of custody form, on which Antea Group directed the laboratory to analyze the soil samples
for one or more of the following:
• Volatile organic compounds(VOCs) by Environmental Protection Agency(EPA) Method 8260B;
• Poly-chlorinated biphenyls(PCBs) by EPA Method 8082;
• CAM 17 metals(antimony,arsenic, barium, beryllium,cadmium, chromium, cobalt,copper, lead, mercury,
molybdenum, nickel,selenium,silver,thallium,vanadium, &zinc) by EPA Method 6010B/7400;and
• Pesticides by EPA Method 8081.
The requested chemical analyses varied for each boring based on historic data point locations (laterally and
vertically), preexisting analytical data and identified potential data gaps in the areas of planned construction.
Results are discussed below in Section 4.0. The certified laboratory analytical report and chain of custody are
included in Appendix C.
3.4 Waste Disposal
As per the direction of the San Joaquin County Inspector on site, due to the shallow (near surface) boring depths,
Cascade personnel backfilled the upper one to two feet with the native soil removed at each boring's location. No
waste was generated.
4.0 SOIL SAMPLE ANALYTICAL RESULTS AND DISCUSSION
TestAmerica reported the soil results for the 41 soil samples submitted in laboratory report Job I.D. 720-56810-1,
dated April 29, 2014 (Appendix C). The following sections summarize the soil results by contaminant of concern.
Refer to Tables 1A and 1B for summaries of the soil analytical results and comparison to the construction and
trench worker scenario Direct Exposure Soil Screening Levels (SSLs), as referenced in the California Regional Water
Quality Board (RWQCB) San Francisco Bay Region's Screening for Environmental Concerns at Sites with
Contaminated Soil and Groundwater,to address worker safety during potential construction activities on the site.
4.1 Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs)
The laboratory analyzed a total of 37 soil samples for VOCs. Of the 37, only four of the samples submitted (1.5-2.0
feet bgs in B-10, 5.5-6.0 feet bgs in B-3, B-6, and B-9) had detections of VOCs greater than the laboratory reporting
limits(LRLs). All of the detections were well below their respective SSLs. Table 1A includes a summary of all VOCs
reported during this sampling investigation.
4.2 Total Metals
Antea Group requested California Administrative Manual (CAM)-17 metals analyses for all 41 soil samples; the 17
listed metals are also referred to as "Title 22" metals. The analytical data showed detections of 15 metals
(antimony, arsenic, barium, beryllium, cadmium, chromium, cobalt, copper, lead, mercury, molybdenum, nickel,
5 www.anteagroup.com
