Preparing the Site
As you prepare the site, you need to consider:
Cl Manholes
❑ Submersible pumps
❑ Stage II Vapor Recovery system
❑ Piping runs
❑ Manifolded product lines
Manholes
For installing PLLD with in-line check valve on a submersible pump, the
recommended minimum manhole size is 30-inches.
There is no minimum size required for FE Petro submersible pumps or SwiftCheck
Valves. The line leak sensor screws directly into the pump head.
Submersible Pump
For proper system operation, the submersible pump H.P.must not exceed 1'/z H.P.The
PLLD system is not qualified for use with Red Jacket X3 and X5 model submersible
pumps,Red Jacket"Big Flo"submersible pumps(3-inch discharge),and FE Petro
STPH 150,550-3-S,and 550-5-S model pumps.
Pump output pressure must be 23 psi minimum.
Stage II Vapor Recovery
If there is a Stage II Vapor Recovery system installed that includes a device in the
pressurized piping, such as a Healy Mini-JetTm,see"PLLD Installation with Stage II
Vapor Recovery Systems"on page 27 for installation guidelines.
Piping Runs
Where piping runs have been installed for future use,but are connected to the active
piping system, isolate the inactive lines from the active lines using a shutoff valve.
Failure to do so may cause erratic system performance.
576013-902,Revision G 9
