Health Division (PHS/EHD) has recently
reviewed the analytical results of the soil and/or.water res u is taken from beneath the underground storage
tank(s) that were removed from this site on August 11, 1953.
The presence of contaminates at your facility exceed the allowable limits of leaching potential as
recommended by the LUFT Manual 1. The former underground storage tank(s) (UST) cannot be
recommended for final closure without further investigatio to determine the full extent of the soil and/or
groundwater problem.
In addition, PHS/EHD is providing you notification that a "Underground Storage Tank Unauthorized
Release (Leak)/Contaminated Site Report" has been filed pursuant to Section 25295 (a) of the Health and
Safety Code. In addition, the appropriate disclosure of a hazardous waste discharge pursuant to Section
25180.7 of the Health and Safety Cade has been made.
Should you wish to mitigate the contamination documented at your facility, San Joaquin County
PHSIEHD has been designated by the State of California 'Water Resources Control Board as the local
agency overseeing the investigation of leaking UST's. If yim are not planning any remedial activities
within 90 days, the tank excavation should be closed. It been our experience that open tank
excavations allow for rapid downward migration of contarr inants.
