Eleanor Ratliff of the San
Joaquin County Environmental Health Division was on site to
observe the tank removal and soil sampling. The bottoms of tanks
TK1 through TK6 were located at a depth of approximately 11 feet
below the ground surface. The bottom of TK7 was located at a
I
depth of approximately 7 feet. Upor removal and inspection of
the tanks, no holes or stress fractures were noted.
The soil at the site is light-brown to grey, silt and silty
fine-to medium-grained sand from the ground surface to a depth of
approkimately 13 feet. A layer of uhite hardpan was noted
between the 3 and 4 foot depth. From the 13 foot depth to the
bottom of the excavation at 14 .5 feet, grey, coarse-grained sand
was encountered. Grey petroleum staining was noted on the east
j sidewall of the excavation, adjacent to the fill ends of tanks
TK3, TK4, and TK5, to a depth of approximately 8 feet below the
ground surface. Groundwater was not encountered during the tank
removal. The soil removed from the tank excavation was
stockpiled on site for temporary storage pending laboratory
results . Following tank removal, and soil sampling, the
excavation was left open and surrounded with barricades.
CONDOR
