DiSalvo Trucking - OES
October 14, 1993
Page -a-
Upon removal and inspection of the tanks, no holes or stress
fractures were noted. Grey petroleum staining was noted on the
east sidewall of the excavation , ad3acent to the fill ends of
tanks TK3 , TK4, and TK5, to a depth of approximately 8 feet below
the ground surface. Groundwater was not encountered during the
tank removal .
Based upon the field observations and laboratory results,
Condor recommends that the petroleum stained soil at the east
ends of TK3, TK4, and TK5 be excavated. Visual inspection for
evidence of soil staining and field screening using an organic
vapor analyzer (OVA) should be conducted during the over-
excavation to assist in evaluating the extent of the contaminated
soil . Following the over--excavation, verification samples should
be collected from each sidewall and the floor of the excavation.
The samples should be analyzed for BTEX and TEPH quantified as
diesel and motor oil . Disposal options for the excavated and
stockpiled soil (e.g. , air stripping, bioremediation, land
disposal, etc . ) should be investigated.
