f
Subsurface Investigation and Page 3
Remedial Excavation of Hydrocarbon-affected Soil
Proposed Cintra Park Phase II Development, Tract 2705, Tracy, California
August 8, 1997 CTE Job No. 20-0445
Based on the San Jose Sheet geologic ma „
g g p (Rogers, 1966), geologic units in the study area consist
of Quaternary Alluvial Fan.(Qf) deposits of the Great Valley Sequence. These units are composed
of interbedded alluvial and aeolian deposits of sand, silt, and gravel.
According to a geotechnical investigation by Hallenbeck & Associates (1995) the site is underlain
by approximately nine to 11
feet of medium staff to stiff, brown, silty and sandy clays. Soils
underlying these materials (to the total depth explored of 19 feet below grade [fbgl) consisted
generally of soft to medium stiff sandy clays and loose to medium dense, clayey sands and silts
and silty sands.
r: The site lies within Groundwater Sub-basin B3 of the San Joaquin River Basin (5B) hydrologic
study area (CRWQCB, 1991). Groundwater resources within this hydrologic area have been
-' designated as having beneficial uses for municipal and domestic supply, irrigation, stock watering,
r✓
industrial process, and service supply. According to a groundwater map for the area (California
Department of Water Resources, 1988), the depth to first groundwater is approximately 10 fbg.
Based on an environmental investigation near the site (Geomaarix, 1996) the direction of
groundwater flow is generally to the northwest.
F
F" F:TROJ ECTs124-04451ENRP42.WPD
F
