Vicki McCartney [EH]
From: Vicki McCartney [EH]
Sent: Friday, January 28, 2011 3:18 PM
To: 'Larry'
Cc: 'Dinesh Rao'; 'Yarone (Ron) Madnick'
Subject: RE:Work Plan for Soil Gas Collection
Larry, Dinesh, and Yarone:
I have read the draft Advisory-Active Soil Gas Investigation, and agree to AA&A's amended work plan that
includes the collection of one duplicate soil gas sample in a 250 milliliter Summa canister and the analysis of the
soil gas sample by EPA Method 8260 in an off-site State-certified Environmental laboratory.
If the laboratory is using water-phase standards instead of gas-phase standards for the calibration curve, please
confirm that the laboratory has analyzed a mid-level NIST gas-phase standard (vapor-phase validation check
standard)that includes all of the target analytes and that the percent difference is twenty percent or less,
especially for MTBE. The reporting limits should be less than or equal to the ESLs or CHHSLs for residential land
use.
I hope to issue the permit today for the three soil gas probes.
Vicki McCartney,Senior RENS
San Joaquin County
Environmental Health Department
600 East Main Street
Stockton,California 95202
Phone: (209)468-9852
Fax: (209)468-3433
Email: vmccartnevC)sicelid.com
From: Larry [mailto:larryw@amiadini.com]
Sent: Friday, January 21, 20112:15 PM
To: Vicki McCartney [EH]
Cc: 'Dinesh Rao'; 'Yarone(Ron) Madnick'
Subject: RE: Work Plan for Soil Gas Collection
Vicki,
We would agree to add the following to the Description of the Work in the letter that was provided with the
boring permit application:
Duplicate Sampling
The results of the field work utilizing a mobile laboratory will be independently confirmed through the
collection of one duplicate soil gas sample in a 250 ml Summar canister. This duplicate sample will
be analyzed using EPA Method 8260 in an off-site State-certified Environmental laboratory. The
duplicate sample will be collected in an area where soil gas is suspected to be impacted with VOCs.
We have added this statement to the permit letter, a copy of which is attached.
We trust this will be acceptable. Please let us know should you require anything further.
Sincerely,
1/28/2011
