(SJCEHD)- CASE No.2251 <br /> Central Valley RWCB (Region 5S) -Case No. 390893 <br /> Global ID No. T0607700719; CUE Claim No. 12886 <br /> Soil Gas Probes Permit Application(SVI —SV3) <br /> Dear Ms. McCartney, <br /> hi a letter dated October 11,2010,(attached),the SJCDEH instructed our client,My Zumberge,to conduct an on-site Soil Gas <br /> Sampling event,in accordance with AA&As Soil Gas Sampling and Human Health Risk Assessment Workplan,dated August <br /> 26,2010(attached).Accordingly,our company,Ami Adini&Associates(AA&A),is herein submitting this permit application to <br /> install three Soil Gas Probes(SV 1—SV3)at the above-referenced property. <br /> This on-site Soil Gas Sampling event scope ofwork includes: <br /> Soil Gas Sampling and Analysis <br /> The soil gas probe installation, leak testing procedures, determination of purge time/volumes, purge rates, and <br /> sample collection methodologies will be conducted in general accordance with Cal EPA's Advisory -Active Soil <br /> Gas Investigation (Cal EPA, 2010). <br /> Soil Gas Sampling Locations <br /> The three soil gas sampling locations(SV1 to SV3)are shown in Figure 3. SVl is located along the eastern wall of <br /> the service shop and is closest to the source area. Soil gas probes SV2 and SV3 are located to evaluate soil gas <br /> concentrations along the north and south walls of the service shop,respectively. <br /> Soil Gas Probe Construction <br /> Soil gas samples will be collected at 5 feet bgs. A direct-push rig will be used to advance the probe rod 6 inches <br /> past the desired sampling depth of 5 feet bgs. The probe rods will then be removed from the borehole. <br /> Approximately 6 inches of clean, graded,kiln-dried sand will be placed at the bottom of the borehole, and then a 5- <br /> foot length of poly tubing will be inserted into the borehole.
