Permit No , 01-11
Joaquin County Dept. of Environmental Health and will be performed in order to conduct the soil vapor and
HVDPE pilot test and the remedial action.
Once groundwater is extracted, the majority of the dissolved phase hydrocarbons in the groundwater will be
volatilized via air stripping. The groundwater will be pre-filtered before entering the air stripper, utilizing bag
filter(s). The vapors from the air stripper will be routed to a thermal oxidizer, where temperatures in excess of
1,400 degrees F effectively combusts the hydrocarbon laden vapor. The destruction efficiency for the oxidizer is
99% or greater.
The treated groundwater will be sent through activated carbon for final polishing to remove all remaining
hydrocarbons, and then discharged to the Sewer system under the suitable permit. The treated water for
discharge will be sampled and tested to confirm the hydrocarbons have been removed.
The description above is provided by:
Yarone (Ron) Madnick
Project Engineer
Ami Adini &Associates, Inc. (AA&A)
