We are the environmental
consultant in charge of the investigation and remediation of the soil and groundwater contamination. As part of
our ongoing environmental remediation process at the subject site,we would like to inquired about the
feasibility/requirements of securing a"temporary sewer permit". This permit is intended for discharging treated
groundwater into the sewer system.
Proposed Methodologies and Activities:
Utilizing a mobile High-Vacuum Dual-Phase Extraction(HVDPE) system,we propose to remove petroleum
hydrocarbons from the soil and groundwater at the subject site. These proposed activities have been approved by
the San Joaquin County Dept. of Environmental Health and will be performed in order to conduct the soil vapor
and HVDPE pilot test and remedial action.
Once groundwater is extracted, the majority of the dissolved phase hydrocarbons in the groundwater will be
volatilized via air stripping. The groundwater will be pre-filtered before entering the air stripper, utilizing bag
filter(s). The vapors from the air stripper will be routed to a thermal oxidizer, where temperatures in excess of
1,400 degrees F effectively combusts the hydrocarbon laden vapor. The destruction efficiency for the oxidizer is
99%or greater.
The treated groundwater will be sent though activated carbon for final polishing to removal all remaining
hydrocarbons, and then discharged to the Sewer system under the suitable permit. The treated water for discharge
will be sampled and tested to confirm the hydrocarbons have been removed.
10/18/2011
