Vicki McCartney [EH]
From: Vicki McCartney [EH]
Sent: Friday, April 04, 2014 12:02 PM
To: 'Javad Masoudi'
Subject: RE: work plan for groundwater remediation at Frontier Transportation Facility in Tracy
Good morning Javad,
I have reviewed the well destruction work plan and have given the work plan to Nuel Henderson today to review
and comment.
I did not find the work plan in GeoTracker. If you have not already uploaded the work plan, please make the
following corrections to the work plan prior to uploading it.
Table 1, you indicate that there was no contamination in soil and groundwater collected from MW-3R. This is not
correct. Contamination was found in both soil and groundwater from MW-3R and this well must be drilled out, not
pressure grouted. (Also, DPE10 (s) did not have contamination in the soil samples.)
Figure 1 is not included in the work plan, but Figure 3 is and it is difficult to read this well location map.
Figure 2 illustrates that cement/bentonite slurry will be used but the narrative states that neat cement will be used
to grout the annular seal. Please use neat cement and correct Figure 2.
You did not mention using a tremie pipe, nor did you mention what pressure will be applied, nor the length of time
the pressure will be applied when pressure grouting.
I have reviewed previous reports and was able to find documentation for all wells except MW-10 and MW-
11 stating that eight-inch augers were used when installing the wells. (You can use eight-inch augers to
destroy wells that were installed using eight-inch augers.)
Please revise the work plan to include this information.
Thank you, Javad.
Vicki McCartney, Senior REHS
San Joaquin County
Environmental Health Department
1868 East Hazelton Avenue
Stockton, California 95205
Phone: (209)468-9852
Email: vmccartneva-sicehd.com
04 --
From: Javad Masoudi [mailto:jmasoudi@emscorp.us]
Sent: Friday, March 28, 2014 3:10 PM
To: Vicki McCartney [EH]
Cc: GOsterkamp@osterkampgrp.com; DZumberge@hotmail.com
Subject: RE: work plan for groundwater remediation at Frontier Transportation Facility in Tracy
Hello Vicki,
Attached is the proposed well destruction method for your review and comment. We will apply
for and obtain all permits necessary for this work after receipt of your approval of this destruction
method.
For cost saving purposes, we will plan to do all construction work in one mob/demob event.
4/4/2014
