But
the amount of water that flows through the filter pack compared to the water that normally flows
through the casing without the packer is very small.
This kind of test is not definitive and 100%accurate. But it is very cost effective in determining whether
design the groundwater pump and treat/disposal system for the entire depth of the saturated media
versus a portion of it. I am open to any suggestion that you may have to move this project forward.
S.Javad Masoudi, P.E.
EnviroMon itoring Services, Inc.
23011 Moulton Parkway,Suite B-14
Laguna Hills,CA 92653
Ph: (949)768-6210
Fax: (949) 770-8128
From: Vicki McCartney [EH] rmailto:vmccartnev(ulsicehd.com]
Sent: Friday, September 06, 2013 4:14 PM
To: Javad Masoudi
Subject: Frontier Transportation Facility 425 Larch Road,Tracy California
Good afternoon Javad,
Having reviewed Addendum to Proposed Work Plan for Groundwater Remediation, dated 27 August 2013,
for Frontier Transportation Facility located at 425 Larch Road in Tracy, the following concerns still exist:
You propose to install a temporary packer at approximately 13 feet below surface grade (bsg) and conduct
two separate water pump tests using DPE3 and MW-3R as pumping wells to assess the petroleum
hydrocarbon contamination in the shallow zone (above 13 feet bsg)versus the deeper zone (below 13 feet
bsg). Both of these wells are screened between 5 and 20 feet below surface grade (bsg)with a filter pack
from approximate 4 to 20 feet bsg. You have indicated that a confined clayey sand/silty sand exists from
approximately 5 to 13 feet bsg. I understand how the packer will prevent the flow of water within the well
casing during the pumping test; however, how do you propose to purge four volumes of water from
each section of the casing while preventing groundwater from entering the casing from the filter pack in
the zone not being sampled?
Vicki McCartney, Senior REHS
San Joaquin County
Environmental Health Department
1868 East Hazelton Avenue
Stockton, California 95205
Phone: (209)468-9852
Email: vmccartney(8s6cehd.com
9/11/2013
