(Claim 12886 and Case 2251
Jatin,
In response to your email concerning the installation of additional extraction wells as opposed to using existing
wells, the existing wells have two-inch-diameter casings and are screened from five to approximately twenty-five
feet below surface grade(bsg) (below the impacted zone at approximately ten to fifteen feet bsg). The new
extraction wells have a six-inch-diameter-casing and are screened to approximately fourteen feet bsg. Since
the original wells are screened much deeper, the original wells would require removing groundwater below the
impacted area.
Vicki McCartney, Senior REHS
San Joaquin County
Environmental Health Department
1868 East Hazelton Avenue
Stockton, California 95205
Phone: (209)468-9852
Email: vmccartnev(asicehd.com
i9
From: Khandwala,Jatin@Waterboards [mailto:Jatin.Khandwala@waterboards.ca.gov]
Sent: Tuesday, September 09, 2014 12:35 PM
To: Vicki McCartney [EH]
Subject: RE: Frontier Transportation -425 Larch,Tracy. (Claim 12886 and Case 2251
Sure, no problem. I am also going to ask 5 year grp to see if it qualifies for Low Risk Closure. Since it is
transportation facility and there are no supply wells, it may qualify for low risk case.
In addition, just curious about new extraction well install. I have not looked at the map yet. But would
have been feasible to use existing MWs instead of installing a new extraction wells? That way they could
have saved some funds. They only have $200K left(assuming LOW RISK closure fails).
Jatin
NOTE: For general status questions about reimbursement requests, budgets or budget change
requests, appeals or general program information, please refer to the Fund's website at:
www waterboards ca gov/water issues/programs/ustcf.
