qq <br /> N Ajl_�I <br /> 6. 1 TRAINING REQUIREMENTS <br /> BER employees and subcontractors who enter the site will be trained to be able to recognize and understand the <br /> ,. .I potential hazards to health and safety associated with the site operations. All BER employees potentially exposed to <br /> hazardous substances will have participated in 40 hours of health and safety instruction and actual field experience under <br /> the direct supervision of a trained, experienced supervisor. The objectives of the health and safety training are: <br /> * To make each team member aware of the potential hazards they may encounter, <br /> 1 * To provide the knowledge and skills necessary to perform the work with minimal risk to worker <br /> health and safety, <br /> * To make workers aware of the purpose and limitations of safety equipment, <br /> *i To ensure that workers can safely avoid or escape from emergency situations. <br /> 6.2 ADDTTIONAL TRAINING REQUIREMENTS <br /> Workers exposed to special hazards during field operations at the Frontier Transportation property shall receive <br /> additional training as determined by the Project Health and Safety Coordinator. On-site managers and supervisors shall <br /> receive all training required for employees whom they supervise, plus eight additional hours of specialized training on <br /> management and supervision of such operations. Prior work experience or training will be acceptable provided that it is <br /> equivalent to the training requirements specified above. Whenever employees are working on-site, at least one person will <br /> be currently certified in Standard First Aid/CPR training. <br /> 1 6.3 DAILY SAFETY MEETINGS <br /> Site-specific "tailgate" safety briefings will be conducted daily by the SSO or his designee to discuss the day's <br /> . . _ operations, review any modifications to the HASP and ensure that site personnel have the necessary information to conduct <br /> their jobs safely. The Tailgate Safety Meeting Form (Attachment 2) will be completed during this briefing and signed by <br /> all personnel in attendance. All completed forms shall be maintained on-site. Upon completion of the project, all fortes shall <br /> be forwarded to the project Health and Safety files. <br /> 6.4 TRAINING PROGRAM CONTENT <br /> ! . I BEII's Health and Safety Training Program involves instruction, self-study and field exercises in the following <br /> areas: <br /> { ' <br /> Science of Hazardous Materials: Chemical and physical properties of hazardous materials. <br /> * Toxicology: Dose response, routes of exposure, toxic effects and exposure limits. <br /> Industrial Hygiene: Selection and use of proper protective equipment and clothing to ensure <br /> minimal contact with contamination, along with the proper methods to decontaminate non- <br /> ; _ I disposable equipment. <br /> cl <br /> * Decontamination: The methods to don and doff protective equipment and clothing to ensure <br /> _ minimal contact with contamination, along with the proper methods, to decontaminate non- <br /> disposable equipment. <br /> * Emergencies: Potential emergency situations, first aid, self-rescue techniques; emergency drills, <br /> iRecord keeping and investigation. <br />
