7h.N3dweII&Rollo
1 Hazard indexes for outdoor construction and landscape maintenance workers, and commercial
workers were less than one, but exceeded one for residents. This was due to the arsenic
concentrations, which ranged from 3.3 to 12 mg/kg. Excess cancer risks were within acceptable
ranges for construction/landscape maintenance workers and commercial/industrial workers, but
exceed 1.0E-6 for residents. Based on the maximum soil lead concentration (710 mg/kg) at Area
3A, there is a potential health concern as this value exceeds target blood lead concentration for
child residents.
' Area 4
TPH as diesel was detected in one of ten soil samples collected from the three test pits excavated,
at 280 mg/kg. TPH as gasoline was detected at boring 4B-1 at 430 mg/kg at 6 feet bgs. No
' BTEX compounds or other volatile organic compounds were detected in soil. Several,semi-
volatile organic compounds were detected in one of seven soil samples analyzed. These
' compounds included benzo (a)pyrene at 630 ug/kg and chrysene at 712 ug/kg. Lead
concentrations exceeded 130 mg/kg in three of thirteen soil samples analyzed, with a maximum
total lead concentration of 360 mg/kg found at 1 foot bgs at test pit 4TP-3. A TCLP analysis was
run on this sample, with no soluble lead detected greater than 1 mg/1.
No volatile organic compounds or significant metal concentrations were detected in the
Lgroundwater sample collected from test boring 4B-1.
Noncarcinogenic HIs were less than one for residents and construction/landscape maintenance
workers. Excess cancer risks were acceptable for construction and landscape maintenance
1 workers, but exceeded the acceptable level for residents. The elevated risk is due to the localized
presence of semi-volatile organic compounds found in soil from one sample at test pit 4TP-3,
located in the northwest corner of the site. The limited occurrence of the semi-volatile organics
may indicate that risk has been overestimated.
17
25970119.DGD 13 December 1999
