Air
Toxicsua
Laboratory Services Since 489
LABORATORY NARRATIVE
EPA Method TO-17
Stantec Consulting Corporation
Workorder# 1108247RI
Four TO-17 VI Tube samples plus one Trip Blank were received on August 11, 2011. The laboratory
performed the analysis via EPA Method TO-17 using GC/MS in the full scan mode. TO-17 sorbent tubes
are thermally desorbed onto a secondary trap. The trap is thermally desorbed to elute the components into
the GC/MS system for further separation.
Receiving Notes
There were no receiving discrepancies.
Analytical Notes
A sampling volume of 0.59 L was used to convert ng to ug/m3 for the associated Lab Blank and sample
Trip Blank.
The TPH pattern in sample SV-Inf did not resemble that of diesel fuel. The hydrocarbons were distributed
in the lighter carbon range of diesel.
THE WORKORDER WAS REISSUED ON AUGUST 29, 2011 TO REPORT RESULTS IN PPMV
AND UG/M3 PER CLIENT'S REQUEST.
Definition of Data Oualifying Flags
Eight qualifiers may have been used on the data analysis sheets and indicates as follows:
B - Compound present in laboratory blank greater than reporting limit (background subtraction not
performed).
J- Estimated value.
E - Exceeds instrument calibration range.
S - Saturated peak.
Q - Exceeds quality control limits.
U - Compound analyzed for but not detected above the reporting limit.
UJ-Non-detected compound associated with low bias in the CCV and/or LCS.
N - The identification is based on presumptive evidence.
File extensions may have been used on the data analysis sheets and indicates
as follows:
a-File was requantified
b-File was quantified by a second column and detector
rl-File was requantified for the purpose of reissue
Page 3 of 13
