I
detected in any of the other soil samples collected. Petroleum hydrocarbon constituents were not
detected in any of the soil samples. Analytical results of soil samples;are summarized in Table 1. !
4_2 Groundwater Contamination
a
L' Toluene was detected in the grab groundwater samples collected from soil borings SB 1 an
; P ,. g d SBS
fat a concentration of 0.6 micrograms per liter (ug/1). No other petroleum hydrocarbon r
constituents were detected in the grab groundwater samplesitcollec':ted from borings SBI, SB2,
SB3, and SB4. The groundwater sample from monitoring well MuWI contained no detectable
it, ji
concentrations of petroleum hydrocarbon constituents. Grab groundwater sample from soil
borings SBI, SB2, SB3, SB4, and SB5 contained total lead at concentrations ranging from 410
ug/l to 1,500 ug/l. The groundwater sample from groundwater monitoring well MMI contained
no detectable concentrations of total lead. Analytical results of groundwater samples are
summarized in Table 2.
5.0 RECOMMENDATIONS
r F Analytical results for soil samples are generally consistents with ;field observations and PID
L readings. Based on the analytical results and field'observations, the soil beneath the site does not
appear to be impacted by petroleum hydrocarbons. The grab groundwater samples collected from
borings SB 1 and SB5 contained toluene at a concentration slightly greater than the detection limit
of 0.5 ppb, but well below the maximum contaminant level of 150 ug/l. The grab groundwater
samples from soil borings SB2, SB3, and SB4 contained;, no detectable concentrations of
petroleum hydrocarbons. The groundwater sample collected from monitoring well MW 1 and the
on site domestic well contained no detectable concentrations of petroleum hydrocarbons.
Groundwater does not appear to be impacted. Therefore, Smith Technology recommends no
further action and that site closure beranted upon the approval of the PHS/EHD. Once
g P PP l
approval has been granted, arrangements will be made for the' abandonment of monitoring well j
MW1 and the disposal of the drummed soil and groundwater.
1 f
w:\90954\90954.03\reports\psi.d- 6
SMTH
