SECTIONONE Introduction
1.2 SITE DESCRIPTION
The subject property is located on 400 West Gandy Dancer Drive in Tracy, California. The
facility consists of approximately 16 acres of land, and is occupied by a 150,000-square-foot
manufacturing, warehousing, and office area. The production area of the facility occupies
approximately 36,000 square feet, and the warehouse occupies 100,000 square feet. The office
area and tank room account for the remaining 14,000 square feet (ERM, 2000). The current
operations at the site include production of rigid foam insulation board on two single-line
operations, ink printing on the aluminum facer material, and finished product storage and
loading.
The site is rectangular in shape, with the building occupying a significant part of the northern
portion of the site. The northeastern portion of the site is occupied by a parking area and a
shipping yard, and the southern portion consists of vacant land.
A rail spur is located on the western side of the property, and is connected to the Union Pacific
Railroad (UPRR) tracks that run in a north/south direction immediately adjacent to the west side
of the site. Tank cars are parked in four available areas at the end of the rail spur for bottom off-
loading to the facility.
The building, rail spur, parking area, and shipping yard are all surrounded by a chain-link fence.
The vacant land on the southern side of the property does not have a fence around it.
UMVADoMCelotexSoil Gas WPS61 Gas WP.doc 1-2
