'Wendy Cohen -4 - 23 October 2007
Volpi Farm Property, Stockton
1,000-gallon gasoline AGT, and dispensers. In 1998, Volpi excavated and removed about
52.5 tons of TPH-contaminated soil from the Site. In December 1999, Volpi excavated an
additional 300 cubic yards around the gasoline AGT.
Seven groundwater monitoring wells exist at the Site. Groundwater is at a depth of about five
feet bgs with a flow direction of south-southeast to south-southwest.
AGE concluded "low-risk closure" of the site is warranted because of the following:
• Trenches T5, T6, MW-1, and MW-3 define the lateral extent of contaminated soil. The
groundwater pollution is defined to the south by well MW-7, to the east by well MW-2, to
the north by well MW-5, and to the west by well MW-4.
• MW-1 and MW-3 have consistently contained TPH-polluted groundwater, while MW-2
and MW-4 have had occasional detections. MW-5 through MW-7 have never shown
petroleum hydrocarbon pollution.
• Natural attenuation has likely reduced the concentrations in groundwater.
• No public or domestic wells are threatened. The onsite domestic well is upgradient of
the groundwater pollution.
• Fate and transport study of the contaminated soil and groundwater plume predict that
the concentrations will not affect a shallow downgradient well within 130 feet of the
source area.
