Phase II Environmental Assessment
GRANTLINE AUTO CENTER
541 West Grantline Road, Tracy, California
1.0. INTRODUCTION
At the request of Mr. Tom Brenkwitz,Advanced GeoEnvironmental, Inc. (AGE) has prepared the
enclosed Phase II Environmental Assessment report for the property at 541 West Grantline Road,
Tracy, California(subject property). The location of the site and its surroundings are illustrated on
Figure 1. Major features on the site and soil probe boring locations are illustrated on Figure 2.
1.1. PREVIOUS ENVIRONMENTAL INVESTIGATION
A Phase I Environmental Assessment is currently being conducted by AGE on the subject property.
During a review of local regulatory agency files for sites surrounding the subject property, AGE
discovered that a petroleum hydrocarbon release had affected the ground water at 575 West Grantline
Road (Figure 2). It appears that the hydrocarbon plume had not been fully assessed at this site,
therefore,AGE recommended that a Phase U Environmental Assessment be conducted at the subject
property to determine whether the hydrocarbon plume fiom 575 West Grantline Road had migrated
to the subject property.
1.2. REGIONAL GEOLOGIC/HYDROGEOLOGIC SETTING
According to Geologic Map of California (1966, Califonria Department of Conservation Division
of Mines and Geology), the property is situated within the Great Valley Geomorphic Province
(GVGP) of California. The GVGP is a large, elongate, northwest trending, asymmetric structural
trough which has been filled with thick sequences of sediment ranging in age from Jurassic to
Recent, creating a nearly flat-lying alluvial plain, extending from the Tehachapi Mountains in the
south to the Klamath Mountains in the north. The western and eastern boundaries of this province
are comprised of the California Coast Range and the Siena Nevada, respectively. Rocks composing
the basement complex of the province have not been completely defined but are believed to be
metamorphic and igneous in origin.
During this investigation, the ground water was encountered at an approximate depth of 10 feet
below surface grade (bsg).
1.3. SCOPE OF WORK
To meet the objective, the scope of work included advancement of six soil probe borings, collection
and analysis of soil and ground water samples and abandonment of the six soil borings.
Advmued Geo Envirunniental,Inc
E 'd
1_10e0ZBG0a 4uagle uen9 dLZ :EO 0a sa des
