Box 6012
San Ramon, CA 94583
REVIEW—SOIL INVESTIGATION WORKPLAN, FORMER TRACY PUMP STATION, 14821
WEST GRANTLINE ROAD, TRACY, SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY
Chevron Environmental Management Company (Chevron) submitted the Soil Investigation
Workplan (Workplan) for the former Tracy Pump Station dated 10 May 2013. The Workplan was
prepared for Chevron by Science Applications International Corporation Energy, Environment &
Infrastructure, LLC (SAIC) and submitted to Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board
staff(Staff)for review and comment.
Previous site investigative findings identified crude oil affected soil including an area of separate
phase oil (SPO) near a fenced area of the site northwest of the former pump house. The purpose
of the Workplan is to confirm the extent of the potential near-surface SPO seep previously identified
using a geophysical evaluation to approximate the outline. The Workplan proposes up to ten soil
borings based on the results of the geophysical investigation. Soil cuttings from the borings would
be visually inspected for the presence of residual hydrocarbons. Final boring locations would be
placed depending on the visual observations. Soil samples would not be collected for chemical
analysis. An investigation report describing the findings and recommendations would be submitted.
Staff concurs with the proposed Workplan.
If you have any questions please contact Dean Hubbard at (559) 445-5179 or by email at
dhubbard(a-)_waterboards.ca.gov.
DANE S.
