Additionally, we reviewed previous soil and groundwater
investigation reports conducted for Chevron by SAIC and others from 2002 to 2007. Detailed
comments are provided in the attached memorandum and summarized below.
SAIC's report summarized and concluded the following:
• The vertical extent of affected soil has been defined onsite by non-detect analytical
results at a depth of 31.5 feet. Additional soil characterization is not needed.
• Additional characterization is needed onsite to delineate the extent of affected
groundwater.
• Affected soil and groundwater has been delineated upgradient and crossgradient.
Groundwater has also been delineated to the north of the property.
• Additional characterization is needed to define the lateral extent of affected soil and
groundwater offs ite-downgrad ient, northeast of the property.
• An onsite water well has not been affected by petroleum hydrocarbons.
• Sampling for TPH as gasoline (TPHg), previously reported present in groundwater,
needs to be included. A sample(s) needs to be submitted for fuel fingerprint evaluation.
California Environmental Protection Agency
Cc,Recycled Paper
