Interested Parties -2 - 13 February 2012
Catellus, Tracy
Chevron submitted the 12 October 2011 site-specific Soil and Groundwater Management Plan
(SGMP) that designates Chevron as the responsible party to address residual crude oil that
may be encountered or excavated during future Site activities.
Site conditions do not appear to present a threat to sensitive ecological receptors. The
property is within the 2004 City of Tracy General Plan sphere of influence which indicates the
area of the Site will be developed for industrial, commercial and office use near California
Interstate 205. Reportedly, some low-density residential developments are proposed further
from the highway. SAIC concluded that future development is not likely to provide adequate
habitat for the ecological receptors
The concentrations of residual crude oil remaining at the Site will naturally degrade with time,
likely over a period of years. Shallow groundwater within/along the area of the highway and
rail corridor easements is not considered a source of drinking water, and alternative water
supply is available.
Details of the Catellus project assessments are available to interested parties through the
GeoTracker website (https://geotracker.waterboards.ca.gov/search.asp) case number
SL067736148, and in the Central Valley Water Board project files.
Interested parties with questions and/or comments regarding the proposed closure can
provide written comments, or contact Dean Hubbard at the above address, by email at
dhubbard(a-)_waterboards.ca.gov, or by telephone at (559) 445-5179 by 13 March 2012.
