Subsequently, during a February 2006
meeting with Chevron and Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) staff, this
topic was addressed and it was decided that since the historic pipeline did not carry these
refined products, site investigations would not include analysis for TPI-Ig or MTBE.
The analysis for the constituents of concern in soil and/or groundwater at Chevron's Old Valley
Pipeline sites — total petroleum hydrocarbons as diesel (TPHd), benzene, toluene,
ethylbenzene, and xylenes (BTEX), polynuclear aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), and for total
dissolved solids (groundwater) should be completed as described in SAIC's workplan.
We concur with SAIC's workplan for the Catellus property as originally proposed. We
understand that the access issues have been or will soon be resolved and that implementation
of the workplan can be initiated. Please notify Regional Board staff 48 hours prior to initiating
field drilling activities.
By 30 August 2006 please submit your report of findings for the Catellus soil and groundwater
investigation.
If you have any questions or comments, please contact Dean Hubbard at (559) 445-5179.
SHELTON R.
