Mariposa Rd, Stockton
APN 181-060-09, SR0081488
The San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department (EHD) has reviewed the Nitrate Loading
Study, dated April 26, 2019 and submitted on December 4, 2019, for the above noted location, and
has the following comments for your consideration.
The Nitrate Loading Study was prepared to determine the usage of onsite wastewater treatment
system (OWTS) and the potential impact of nitrate to groundwater for the proposed project
development. The proposed development project includes:
1. A two bed-room second unit dwelling modular residence.
2. The OWTS usage with wastewater of 280 gallons a day from existing residence and 280
gallons a day from proposed two bedroom second unit dwelling modular residence totaling in
560 gallons a day.
The Nitrate Loading Study does not provide sufficient information to indicate the area is suitable for
the OWTS usage for the proposed project, pursuant to San Joaquin County Ordinance Code Title
9, Section 9-1105.2(d), as noted below.
1. A Soil Suitability Study incorporating proposed staff and customer use shall be submitted to
the Environmental Health Department, indicating that the area is suitable for septic system
usage. The studies must be approved by the Environmental Health Department prior to
issuance of building permit(s). (San Joaquin County Development Title, Section 9-1105.2(d)).
The fee will be based on the current schedule at the time of payment. The sewage disposal
system shall comply with the onsite wastewater treatment systems standards of San Joaquin
County prior to approval. A percolation test conducted in accordance with the E.P.A. Design
Manual - Onsite Wastewater and Disposal Systems is required for each parcel. The fee will
be based on the current schedule at the time of payment.
2. Submit Soil Suitability/Nitrate Loading (SSNL) Study addendum for the above mentioned
constituents. EHD will determine the suitability for onsite wastewater treatment system
(OWTS) upon reviewing SSNL Study addendum.
1868 E.
