Proposal Workplan Page 2
TEIXEIRA SOUSA—GROUNDWATER ASSESSMENT
December 18,2006
WKA No.: 3PRO6195
On November 22, 2006, the Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board (RWQCB)
published tentative Waste Discharge Requirements (WDR) and Monitoring and Reporting
Program (MRP) requirement for milk cow dairies. The scope of work provided in this workplan
was prepared in general accordance with the tentative MRP.
PROPOSED SCOPE OF WORK
The scope of work for the groundwater quality assessment will include the following tasks:
• Task 1: Permitting and Field Work Preparation
• Task 2: Soil and Grab Groundwater Sampling
• Task 3: Laboratory Analysis
The following subsections present details of the proposed scope of work based on WKA's
understanding of site conditions as determined during our previous assessment and dairy
abandonment activities.
Task 1: Permitting and Field Work Preparation
Prior to conducting field activities, a Health and Safety Plan (HASP) will be prepared for the
proposed field sampling activities. The HASP is intended to document and provide field personnel
with appropriate safe working measures for known and potential hazards that may be encountered
during field sampling activities. The proposed sampling locations will then be marked and mapped
for future reference. The proposed sampling locations will also be permitted through the San
Joaquin County Environmental Health Department(SJCEHD) and implemented under an
SJCEHD-approved workplan. Underground Service Alert service will also be notified at least 48
hours in advance of sampling activities.
Task 2: Soil and Grab Groundwater Sampling
Assuming unrestricted access to the Site, WKA will advance and sample up to 20 direct-push
boring locations across the Site using a GeoProbe drilling rig, sub-contracted through
V&W Drilling. Soil samples will be collected at the surface and at varying intervals for soil
description, field screening using a hydrogen sulfide meter, and for potential laboratory analysis.
`N%
WALLACE•KUFII
Er ASSOCIATES INC.
