Mr. Moss Atkinson
March 30, 2001
Page 5
Upon collection, the sample will be prepared for shipment to a California state-certified
laboratory and labeled as described below. Samples will be placed in a sealable plastic
bag and placed on ice in a cooler pending transportation to the laboxatory_ Observations
of the sample and sample area will be documented within a field notebook.
The probe hole will then be backfilled with a bentonite-cement grout.
Analyses. Groundwater grab samples will be analyzed for the following suite of
parameters:
■ Total and dissolved chromium using EPA Test Method 6010.
Total and dissolved Chromium VI using EPA Test,Method 7199.
Filttation of samples for dissolved metals will be conducted by the laboratory. Because
chromium VI has a 24-hour laboratory holding time, samples will be collected in a
manner to xneet overnight shipment to the labotatory. Sampling will not he conducted
on a Friday to avoid sample receipt at the laboratory on the weekend.
Field Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) Samples. During this
investigation additional samples will be collected in the field as QA/QC samples and will
include the following
Field.Duplicates. Field duplicates will be taken at a frequency of one duplicate
sample per tcn field samples. One duplicate will be collected if the number of
samples is less than ten, with at least one duplicate collected at each facility.
Field equipment blank-K:One field equipment blank will be collected for each
day of sampling using non-disposable sampling equipment (direct push
groundwater collection tool). Equipment blanks will not be collected from
disposable sampling equipment.
Equipment Decontamination and Waste Containment. Non-disposable sampling
equipment will be decontaminated between samples by the following three-stage
decontamination process-
■ Washing with a non-phosphate detergent,
• Rinsing in tap water, and
■ Rinsing again in distilled water.
Direct puska dulling equipment will be decontaminated by high-pressure wash, as need,
and between facilities. Oecontat)=i ation fluids will be stored at each facilityin
DOT-approved 55-gallon steel drums. The drums will be labeled with the generator
name, site address,.description of the contents, and generation date.
P:wpliobf\20587\102253 Grwndvet 'XTA.c
EVV-d 910/900 d ZZl-1 96MVP6 1131MV0 ONV NAUG-woad Wr69:01 100Z-0E-adV
