Mr. Ross Atkinson
Mauch 30, 2001
Page 7
Data Quality
This section presents the data quality criteria to support the project objectives. The
establishment of a QA/QC system will provide the baseline for measuring data quality in
terms of precision, accuracy, completeness,and representativeness of actual site
conditions.
To achieve the data quality needed to support the project objectives, all analyses for this
investigation will be performed using accepted laboratory procedures in accordance with
specified analytical protocols. A laboratory certified in the State of California under the
Environmental Laboratory Accreditation program (FLAP) will perform the analyses-
Analyses will be performed in accordance with SW-846 test methods.Together with the
sampling plan, these procedures will provide a baseline level of documentation.
Laboratory quality control acceptance ct:itezla that will be applied to samples analyzed
during this project will meet SW-846. Quality conaol results attributed to sample matrix
effects will be documented and noted in the laboratory reports.
Reporting Limits. Reporting limits for this project will be both the method detection
limit(MDLs) and Practical Quantitation h its (PQLs). The laboratory will report
concentration values at the lowest possible reporting limit The decision thresholds
identified for this investigation were based on Water Quality Goals specified in the State of
California Regional Water Quality Control Board(RWQCB) for the Central Valley Region
(August 2000), specifically PHGs.
Data Verification. During the verification process,the laboratory data will be subject to
review for QC outliers,anomalies and potential noncompliance with project requirements
for the following elements:
• Date and time of sample collection-required to usvquely identify sample ind
assess any holding time limitations;
• Location of samples,including depth,if appropriate -required to uniquely
identify samples (these data will be provided in the field logbook);
■ Chain-of-Custody do+mmentation- required to demonstrate integrity of
samples and maintain unique identity of samples;it includes a unique sample
identification number, sample collection date and time,and signature of the
persons relinquishing and receiving the sample;
• Field QA/QC procedures - required to demonstrate sample integrity;it
includes field decontamination procedures to prevent cross-contamination,the
collection of field blanks, and the collection of duplicate samples during each
sampling activitt;
■ Name and location ofd laboratory -required for chain-of-custody
documentation and to verify credentials of laboratory;
P:\wp\IUM\20587\102257C;fDV.d rCt%'P.&C
EVV-d 810/800 d ddl-1 OV60VIM6 11TACIVO ONV NMOH-woad mrOO: [[ 1004-0£—ada
