John Yoakum [EH]
From: John Yoakum [EH]
Sent: Wednesday, August 07, 2013 8:14 AM
To: 'Ryan Woodward'
Subject: RE: Pressure Grout Requirements for SJCEH
Ryan,
That is correct.
The cap must be 12" larger than the original boring.
The hole must be 36 inches deep, with the casing sticking up 6" above the bottom of the hole.
A 12" layer of neat cement is then placed in the hole with the cement extending up 6" above the top of the cut off
casing.
Sometimes people will use an 8" auger to bust out the casing 2 Y2 deep.
Then they will use a 20" cookie cutter to 2%feet and then hand clear the last 6".
1 am not saying that this is how you need to do this. I am just throwing out ideas.
Any way you choose to accomplish the goal will be fine with me.
I will be in the field if you need to talk to me my cell number is(209) 601-0429.
Johnny Yoakum
Senior REHS
San Joaquin County
Environmental Health Department
From: Ryan Woodward [mailto:rxan@woodwarddrilling.com]
Sent: Tuesday, August 06, 2013 4:57 PM
To: John Yoakum [EH]
Subject: Pressure Grout Requirements for SJCEH
Good Afternoon John,
We are in the process of building a special tool designed for creating the mushroom caps for the 2" pressure grouted
wells.
To confirm, in San Joaquin County, you require/ request a mushroom cap that is 12" larger than the diameter of the tool
originally used to drill the well, correct?
Therefore, if a 2" well was drilled with an 8" auger, we need to create a mushroom cap that is 20" diameter x 3' bgs
around the top of the well.
I just want to make sure before we spend time& money building the tool.
Your response is greatly appreciated,Thank you!
Ryan Woodward
Procurement Manager
Woodward Drilling Co. , Inc
i
