• Wells MW-19d, p and s are in better condition and are more accessible than wells MW-
18d, p and s. It is recommended that these wells MW-18d, p and s are abandoned and
the MW-19 wells are added to the monitoring program.
• Monitor wells MW-5d,MW-10p and s, MW-11,p and s have been significantly damaged
or destroyed since their construction. It is recommended that these well are
reconstructed and retained for the annual monitoring program.
All wells and piezometers will be destroyed under permit and in accordance with San Joaquin
County Environmental Health Department requirements. An inspector will be onsite to
observe and record proper abandonment. Wells will be pressure grouted in place with a
volume of neat cement equal to at least 110% of the well casing volume. Because these wells
have not yielded evidence of anthropogenic ground water impacts in this area, pressure
grouting is an acceptable method per San Joaquin County standards and displaced water will
not be contained. All wells will be terminated below ground surface and capped with a neat
cement plug.
For access reasons, well abandonment, reconstruction and sampling should occur in the dry
summer months. Final decisions will be dependent on field observations.
