Weber Avenue, 3 Floor PERMIT/SERVICES
Stockton, CA 95202-2708
RE: Compliance Issues From the April 21, 2005 Inspection of the Camanche Powerhouse
Dear Mr. Catanyag,
Thank you for extending the deadline to June 13, 2005 for submitting compliance
materials from the April 21, 2005 inspection of the EBMUD's Camanche Powerhouse
located at 23900 E. Buena Vista Road in Clements. All of the minor compliance issues
(emergency coordinator information, proper labeling and cover of containers, copies of
the manifest and housekeeping of the facility) have been corrected. Attached are the
Hazardous Waste Emergency Information(posted at the site), compliance certification
forms, Hazardous waste manifests, pictures, updated maps showing the proposed location
of the hazardous waste storage locker and analytical results of the metal fines.
Hazardous waste manifest for Pardee Center over the past three years are included due to
previous practices of hauling waste from the Camanche Powerhouse (used oil and oily
rags)to Pardee Center under the belief that the powerhouse met the requirements for a
remote site. That practice has been discontinued and all wastes generated from the
Camanche Powerhouse will now be picked up on a quarterly basis. Wastes to be
offhauled include: oily rags, used oil and metal fines. The wastes are placed in covered
labeled containers and will be stored in a new hazardous waste storage locker due to be
delivered to the site sometime next week. Small buckets have been installed under
equipment(see attached photo)to contain metal shavings while operating equipment.
The shavings are then transferred to a labeled covered container. All open containers for
used oil and oil rags have been replaced with sealed or covered containers.
If you have any questions regarding the information included with this letter, feel free to
call me at (510) 287-1641 or email at rnewmangebmud.com.
Sincere
?L
ROBERT NEWMAN
Environmental Health and Safety Specialist II
Attachments
RDN:rdn
375 ELEVENTH STREET.
