Work Plan for Preliminary Subsurface Investigation January 31, 1992
City of Stockton, former Western Pacific Railroad Property, Stockton, CA W0601.1B
To achieve the objectives, the following scope of work is proposed:
• Conduct a computer search of Federal, State and County data bases
regarding facilities with environmental concerns within a one-half mile
radius of the site.
• Drill a total of 30 soil borings to a total depth of 5 feet below grade at the
subject property. Boring locations will be based on a grid pattern in an
attempt to define soil conditions across the site (Figure 2). The site will
be divided into six, approximately equal sections. Each section will
contain 5 soil borings. Soil samples will be collected at 5 feet below
grade in each boring. The samples collected within each section will be
laboratory composited into one sample (Figure 3). A total of six soil
samples will be analyzed by a State-certified laboratory for California Title
22 Metals, Volatile Organics (EPA method 8240), and Semi-Volatile
Organics (EPA method 8270).
• Three of the soil borings will be drilled to a total depth of 40 feet below
grade (Figure 2). The borings will be completed as groundwater
monitoring wells. The wells will be surveyed and incorporated on the
Banner Island map.
• The three wells will be properly developed and sampled. The samples
will be analyzed for California Title 22 Metals, Volatile Organics (EPA
method 8240), and Semi-Volatile Organics (EPA method 8270).
• The hydraulic gradient of the uppermost aquifer and the site specific
groundwater flow direction will be determined.
• Prepare a summary report.
5.0 SOIL BORING AND GROUNDWATER MONITORING WELL INSTALLATION AND
DEVELOPMENT PLAN
A total of 30 soil borings will be drilled at the subject property.
