.-0 S Public Notice
s. The California Regional Water Quality Control Board, Central Valley Region (Central
Valley Water Board) invites public comment on the soil and groundwater remediation
State of California project, proposed on behalf of Responsible Party Name for the former leaking
Edmund G. Brown Jr. underground storage tank (UST) site at Site Address, Site City, Site County, CA (Site).
9 y
Governor SUBJECT SITE: RECV .L)
Site Name
Site Street Address
Site City, Site County, CA
GeoTracker Global ID#XXXXXXXXXXXXX ENVIRONMENTAL
Case#XXXXXX HEALTH DEPARTMENT
California Environmental PUBLIC PARTICIPATION COMMENT PERIOD: XX Month 2012 through XX Month
Protection Agency 2012 (minimum of 60 days)
Matthew Rodriquez CASE SUMMARY:
The Site is an active retail fuel station and convenient store in a mixed use area of Site
Secretary for City with both nearby commercial and residential property. The Site's UST system
Environmental consists of three 8,000-gallon USTs, eight dispensers and all associated piping. To
Protection
assess subsurface conditions, soil and groundwater samples were collected from six
borings advanced beneath the Site in October 1998. Groundwater and soil samples
collected from the Site indicated that soil and groundwater had been polluted by
^ gasoline released from the Site's UST system. The UST system was excavated and
Water Boardsremoved along 600 cubic yards of soil on date.
Multiple soil, soil vapor, and groundwater samples were collected from across the Site
Regional Water Quality between October 1998 and July 2010 to evaluate and monitor both the nature and
Control Boards, Central extent of the gasoline release, and its potential effect on human health and waters of the
Valley Region state.
Karl E. Longley ScD, P.E.
Since 2007, a combination of two cleanup methods (soil vapor and groundwater
Chair extraction) have been used to clean up (remediate) the petroleum constituents. Soil
vapor extraction (also known as SVE) is used to remove and combust gasoline vapors
from the soil. The vacuum system used for SVE is also used to remove groundwater,
which is then treated through activated carbon tanks and discharged as clean water to
the sewer system. Because the same system is removing both vapor and water this
Contact: cleanup method is called, Two Phase Extraction (abbreviated as TPE).
Vera Fischer TPE has been used as an interim remedial action since 2007, and has been proposed
Regional Water Quality as the final remedial action. We invite public comment on the decision to use this
Control Board system for the final remedial remedy.
(916)464-4792 or WHERE DO I GET MORE INFORMATION?
vera.fischer@waterboards.
