i
Mr. Ron Rowe
June 2, 1997
Page 5
3.5 Quarterly Groundwater Monitoring
Following this phase of additional Site investigation,SECOR will initiate quarterly groundwater monitoring
and reporting activities for the three Site monitoring wells. Groundwater monitoring activities will be
coordinated with the SJCEHD so that collected groundwater elevation and chemical data can be obtained on
the same day as the data collected from the surrounding properties with petroleum hydrocarbon-impacted
groundwater. Groundwater monitoring activities will include well sounding, purging and sample collection,
and laboratory analysis for TPHg,BTEX, and MTBE.
4.0 LABORATORY ANALYSIS
SECOR will submit two to three soil samples from each of the boreholes and one groundwater sample from
wells MW-1,MW-2 and MW-3 to a state-certified analytical laboratory for chemical analysis under chain-of-
custody documentation. Analytes will include total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPHg) by EPA
Method 8015, modified and benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylenes (BTEX)and methyl tertiary butyl
ether(MTBE)by EPA Method 8020. Soil cuttings, groundwater, and decontamination wastes will be properly
disposed pending completion of laboratory analyses.
Influent and effluent vapor samples collected during the SVE/AI pilot test will also be submitted to a state-
certified analytical laboratory under chain-of-custody documentation. Analytes will include TPHg and BTEX
by EPA Methods 8015,modified and 8020.
5.0 REPORTING
SECOR will prepare and submit a Summary Report summarizing the procedures and results of the additional
Site investigation and SVE/AI pilot test. The Summary Report will include text, tables, figures, and
appendices documenting the field activities and the investigation and testing results, as well as integrate
existing Site and Site vicinity data. The Summary Report will include recommendations for additional Site
investigative and/or remedial activities,if warranted.
Groundwater monitoring reports will be prepared and submitted to the SJCEHD on a quarterly basis. These
reports will document groundwater monitoring activities and will include supporting tables, figures, and
appendices, as required by the SJCEHD.
6.0 SCHEDULE
SECOR is prepared to begin work immediately upon approval of this Work Plan from the SJCEHD. The
preliminary field activities will require approximately two weeks to complete. Drilling, soil sampling, well
installation, development and sampling will require one week to complete. The SVE/AI pilot test will be
scheduled for the following week. Laboratory analyses will require two weeks from the sample submittal time.
A Summary Report will be submitted to the SJCEHD within four weeks of receipt of all analytical data from
the laboratory. Groundwater monitoring and reporting activities will be performed quarterly for one year.
H:\SFFB\STOCKTON\WPLN.RPT
50090-011-03,001
