06 October 2006
AGE-NC Project No. 04-1207
Page 4 of 9
MW-4.AGE projected a theoretical radius of influence for MW-1 at approximately 94 feet
at 2.0 GPM, 122 feet at 3.0 GPM,and 118 feet at 4.0 GPM.Laboratory analysis of extracted
water detected BTEX compounds in the ground water samples collected at 0815 hr at
concentrations of 4.2 µg/1 ethylbenzene and 12.6 µg/1 xylenes, and at 1000 hr at a
concentration of 2.5 µg/1 xylenes.No petroleum hydrocarbon constituents were detected in
the samples collected at 1200 hr or 1400 hr.
3.0. SCOPE OF WORK
The CVRWQCB is requiring interim soil and ground water remediation of petroleum hydrocarbons
at the site to prevent vapor migration to neighboring residences. Remediation by soil vapor
extraction is proposed. Additionally, AGE proposes to install, operate, and maintain an interim
ground water pump-and-treat remediation system utilizing ground water monitoring well MW-1 as
the extraction point. The goals of this interim remediation effort are:
• To inhibit migration of dissolved petroleum hydrocarbon-impacted ground water off-site to
neighboring residences;
• To decrease the adsorbed and dissolved petroleum hydrocarbon plumes; and
• To protect the beneficial use ground water supply.
The proposed scope of work will include the following tasks:
• Pre-field work activities;
• Installation of a soil vapor extraction system;
• Dedicated ground water pump installation;
• Soil vapor extraction system start-up period;
• Pumping and discharging produced ground water;
• Monitoring and maintenance activities;
• Progress/confirmation sampling; and
• Report preparation.
Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc.
